The ANC’s Nomusa Dube-Ncube was sworn in as KwaZulu-Natal’s new premier following the resignation of Sihle Zikalala.
On Tuesday, another member of the ANC provincial cabinet, MEC for economic development, tourism and environmental affairs Ravi Pillay, resigned as MEC and as a member of the KZN legislature.
Pillay’s departure from government comes shortly after former premier Zikalala’s resignation, leaving two vacancies in the executive.
Dube-Ncube was chosen as the ANC’s preferred candidate to take the top job on Monday, after Zikalala’s resignation.
News24 reports that she was sworn in after beating the DA’s candidate Mmabatho Tembe. The IFP did not field any candidates.
