Siviwe Gwarube has been appointed as the chief whip of the DA in Parliament, replacing Natasha Mazzone.

Gwarube had formerly been the party’s deputy chief whip as well as being the DA spokesperson on health. She was also the party’s spokesperson. The post of national spokesperson will now be shared between Solly Malatsi and Cilliers Brink.

Mazzone will now represent the DA on the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence. She has also been appointed as the National Security Advisor to DA leader, John Steenhuisen.

Dianne Kohler Barnard makes a return to the DA front bench and will now be the party’s Shadow Minister of Communications.

According to News24 Mazzone denied that she had been demoted. She was quoted as saying: ‘Haters are going to hate.’
