Former President Thabo Mbeki has denied claims by EFF leader Julius Malema that he is working with Arthur Fraser to oust President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Malema claimed that Mbeki was working with Arthur Fraser, South Africa’s former top spy, to get rid of Ramaphosa. Malema claimed that this was partly because Mbeki was ‘disgruntled’ over not finishing his term as President, being ‘recalled’ by the ANC in 2008.

A spokesperson for the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, Siyabulela Gebe, said: ‘…Mbeki rejects Mr Malema’s scuttlebutt with the contempt it deserves.’

Gebe went on to say that the former President believed that the allegation came out of ‘old apartheid intelligence machinery’ and the aim was to create divisions within the ANC.
