Ties between Russia and Africa are a priority for Moscow, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Speaking at a conference on the Russian-African relationship on Monday, Putin said: ‘I want to emphasise that our country has always given and will continue to give priority to co-operation with African states.’

Putin also said that Russia would supply African countries with food for free as well as share technology.

Russia has in recent years been strengthening its ties with African countries, with this charm offensive intensifying as Moscow looks for global allies following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
