An International Monetary Fund (IMF) assessment released on Thursday suggests that Lebanon’s recent economic troubles are set to deepen. The report suggested that without major economic reforms the country faces the prospect of hyperinflation.

Lebanon has been in a serious economic crisis since 2019.

The IMF assessment comes as the Lebanese government has been trying to secure a bailout from the organisation for the last year. However, negotiations have been slow moving as the IMF says Lebanon has not moved forward on the reforms needed to secure the deal.
