Kenya aims to remove visa requirements for all other African nationals by the end of the year. The announcement was made by President William Ruto.

He was quoted as saying: ‘It is time we… realise that having visa restrictions amongst ourselves is working against us.’

He went on to say: ‘Let me say this: As Kenya, by the end of this year, no African will be required to have a visa to come to Kenya.’

Allowing visa-free travel for Africans on the continent has been the aim of the African Union for some time, but little progress has been made. According to the BBC in 2022 only Gambia, the Seychelles, and Benin allowed nationals of all African countries to visit without a visa.
