A new poll, this time from IPSOS, confirms the trend that a number of other polls have revealed, which shows that ANC support is declining.

IPSOS polled nearly 4 000 people in July for the survey.

According to the IPSOS poll, which was released last week, 39% of respondents said they supported the ANC. The DA had the support of 16% of respondents, with the EFF at 15%.

The IFP was the fourth most popular party, with 4% of the vote. ActionSA received 3%.

Some 5% of those who participated in the survey said they would not vote; 6% refused to answer the question, while 4% said they did not know.

IPSOS also released polling for voter choices in Gauteng, the Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa’s three most populous provinces.

In Gauteng some 36% of respondents supported the ANC, followed by the DA with 16%, and the EFF with 15%. ActionSA had the support of 12% of respondents.

In KwaZulu-Natal, the ANC only had the support of 22% of respondents, with the DA and the EFF both getting 13%. The IFP had the support of 17% of respondents in that province.

Finally, in the Western Cape, the DA was the most popular party, with the support of 44% of respondents. The ANC was at 23%, with the EFF at 9%.

The IPSOS polling reflects similar trends to what other polls, released by the Brenthurst Foundation and the Social Research Foundation, have found, showing shrinking ANC support. However, the other polls have DA support significantly higher, although IPSOS has traditionally under-polled the DA.
