Tech billionaire Elon Musk is to move the headquarters of Space X and X from California to Texas.

He announced on the X platform that this was the result of recent state legislation on transgenderism. He wrote: “This is the final straw. Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.”

The law in question would prevent schools from requiring teachers to inform parents if their children were transitioning. The stated intention of the measure was to protect transgender children whose families were not accepting the new lifestyle.

Musk added that he was frustrated by the state of San Francisco, where X is currently headquartered. The city has gained a bad reputation for open drug use and homelessness.

Texas has become a favoured destination for disillusioned Californians who seek lower taxes, more accessible property options and a strong economy.
