A proposed new clause in the MK Party’s constitution prevents public representatives from requesting meetings with party boss, Jacob Zuma.

According to News24, the new clause says: “All public representatives of the MKP are strictly forbidden from seeking direct meetings and consultations with the President before consultation with all the officials of the organisation, i.e.: deputy president, secretary-general, national organiser, chairperson, deputy chairperson and treasurer.”

It is not clear whether the new clause was adopted.

Furthermore, a number of MK MPs rejected the proposed clause, with insiders saying they could be in trouble.

This is the latest in a series of incidents in the party. A few weeks ago, deputy president John Hlophe and chief whip Mzwanele Manyi reportedly had a physical altercation over a speech Manyi had given Hlophe.
