A rare signed cover of the Nirvana album, Nevermind, has been sold on auction for £18,600.
The LP album cover – which featured a swimming baby – is one of the most recognisable album covers from the early 1990s.
Nevermind was Nirvana’s second studio album and propelled the band to global fame. It features iconic songs such as Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are.
The cover was signed at a gig in Bristol in 1991, before the band achieved global stardom.
It was signed by the late Kurt Cobain, who was the band’s frontman and who committed suicide in 1994; drummer, Dave Grohl, who is now the Foo Fighters’ frontman; and the band’s bass guitarist, Krist Novoselic.
The cover had been stored in a loft for over thirty years before going under the hammer this week.
