The party of Joseph Kabila, the former president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has been banned over alleged links to the M23 rebel group.
Kabila had been president of DRC for 18 years, having succeeded his father Laurent Labila, who was assassinated in 2001.
The government said it had banned the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD) as it had an “ambiguous attitude” to the occupation of Congolese land by M23.
Last week Kabila was accused of high treason by the government, which gave instructions for all his property to be seized.
