The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has said that only biological woman will be allowed to play in girls’ and women’s cricket in the country.
It said it came to this decision following the recent Supreme Court ruling in the UK that a woman was defined by her biological sex.
The ECB said that transwomen could still play in open or mixed competitions but would not be allowed to play in female-only competitions.
In a statement, the ECB said: “We acknowledge that this decision will have a significant impact on transgender women and girls. We will work with Recreational Cricket Boards to support people impacted by this change in our regulations.”
