A 23-year-old Mexican social media influencer, Valeria Marquez, was shot dead while on a livestream on TikTok.
Marquez was streaming from her beauty salon in Guadalajara when a man walked in and appeared to fire a gun at her. The stream only ended when the gunman picked up her phone and stopped it recording.
Marquez had 200,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok.
No motive has been identified, but Mexican authorities are treating the murder as a “femicide” – where women or girls are killed because of their sex.
