The Liberal and National parties in Australia have decided to reunite.
The two parties, which have worked together for most of the past eighty years to act as a united centre-right force in the country’s politics, went their separate ways last week. This was after the leader of the National Party, David Littleproud, said that the two parties had had too many disagreements over policy. The National Party represents mostly rural communities and is generally more conservative than the Liberal Party.
However, it seems that the two have reconciled and will now work together to oppose the current Labor government of Anthony Albanese.
The reconciliation comes after the two parties renegotiated some policy positions around energy and rural infrastructure, amongst other matters.
