The death of a man in Qonce (King William’s Town) in October in the Eastern Cape has sparked fears that there is a ‘werewolf’ on the loose in the area.

The body of Diesel Michael Makambi was found near the Buffalo River, covered in bite marks.

His family claims he was killed by three pit bulls, while eyewitnesses say he was killed by wild sea dogs (iintini in Xhosa).

However, locals believe that Makambi and another unidentified local man were killed by a werewolf.

The rumours that a werewolf is on the prowl have been spread on social media, with local police pleading with residents to stop spreading the rumour.
