A South African supernatural drama, Dead Places, debuted on streaming platform Netflix over the weekend.

The series revolves around the exploits of detective and author Will Stone, who chases paranormal events. Central to the plot is the death of his sister 20 years previously.

Shot on some 50 locations around South Africa, the series features a high-profile cast of local acting talent, including Anthony Oseyemi, Shamilla Miller and Rea Rangaka. It promises to be a spine-tingling experience for its audience.

Last year, the government indicated that it was looking at requiring online streaming platforms – such as Netflix – to carry a minimum quota of 30% local content.
