President Cyril Ramaphosa has paid the highest price ever paid for a Boran bull.

According to News24, the President paid R3.5 million for the animal at a recent auction.

The bull, named Jester, will go to Ramaphosa’s stud farm, which is near Badplaas.

Boran cattle reportedly have their origins among cattle farmed by the Oromo people of southern Ethiopia, but also have ancestry from India. They are known as a hardy breed and are resistant to parasites which commonly affect cattle in Africa, making them sought after.
