One by-election was held on Wednesday with the DA retaining a ward in Mangaung.
On Wednesday the DA managed 50% of the vote, a slight increase on the 44.2% it won in the 2021 local government elections.
The PA was the second-biggest party in the by-election, with 25.6% of the vote, an increase on the 10.7% of the vote it won in the November local government poll.
The only other significant challengers to the DA on Wednesday were the ANC and the EFF, which won 17% and 7% of the vote respectively.
The by-election became necessary because the sitting DA councillor resigned from the party to join Rise Mzansi.
