The issue of climate change is not a priority for most South Africans. This is according to a survey conducted by the Presidential Climate Commission.

It surveyed 3 000 people who were asked what they believed to be the three most pressing issues facing South Africa. Only 5% identified climate change as one.

Unemployment was identified by about three-quarters of people as one of the top three most pressing issues, with 47% listing crime, and 36% corruption.

The survey also found that about half of South Africans were aware of the issue of climate change, with about 20% believing that humans were the main drivers of climate change.
