Russia and Iran have announced closer military co-operation, in a move announced during an Iranian state visit to Moscow.
Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian was visiting the Russian capital when the announcement of a twenty-year “strategic partnership” was made.
This would cover various areas, including trade, defence, technology, and energy.
In recent years Russia has cultivated closer ties with a number of dictatorships around the world, including China and North Korea, as well as Iran.
According to the BBC, the treaty will also see the two countries consult on mutual security threats and hold joint military exercises.
