The immunity against prosecution enjoyed by Joseph Kabila, the former president of the DRC, has been removed. This is to allow the country’s government to lay treason charges against him.
In a video on YouTube Kabila laid against the country’s government, including his hand-picked successor, Felix Tshisekedi, saying the government was a “dictatorship”.
Authorities plan to lay charges of treason against Kabila, claiming he has links with the M23 rebel group, which is fighting an insurgency in the east of the country against Kinshasa.
Kabila, who governed the country from 2001 to 2019, also revealed a 12-point plan which he claimed would help insecurity in the country’s east.
